  • Farms are recording good growth and per cow production right across the area. Cow BCS is mixed with some lighter herds and some herds with quite a bit of variance with-in them. It is too early to tell if cows are cycling more than last season but with better feeding levels, and comment from farmers around increased pre-mating heats compared to last season; a better start to mating is anticipated. Farms are recording the same levels of metri check cases as last season. Most farms have finished any crop left over on the milking platform but there is still a little crop on some support blocks. First rounds have either finished or are about to finish with a little supplement still being used sometimes just to help deliver magnesium to the herd.
