Pasture Measurement with RPM
Making the most of your Rising Platemeter (RPM).
The Rising Platemeter (RPM) is a farm management tool that is used through out New Zealand Pastoral farming to measure perennial ryegrass/white clover swards. A word of caution – the RPM approximates pasture mass. It should not be used as the only method to allocate pasture to stock. Allocation of pasture should also take into account observation of stock (to see that that they are grazing for sufficient time) and that post- grazing residuals are hitting the desired targets.
