Sustainable dairying

Sustainable dairying is about balancing profitability with environmental responsibility.

This is the thinking behind the Dairy Industry Strategy for Sustainable Environmental Management, which is already guiding DairyNZ’s efforts and driving a more coordinated industry approach to reducing dairying’s environmental impact.

DairyNZ has partnered with the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology, Fonterra and Meat and Wool NZ to contribute $17 million over four years to research and develop tools to help farmers improve their environment impacts. AgResearch has a significant role in delivering and co-ordinating that research.

DairyNZ is working with farmers, dairy companies, rural professionals, researchers, scientists and regional councils to find solutions that are practical and work on-farm, while reducing farmers’ costs, and improving their efficiency and productivity.

Here you will find tools, information and resources specifically designed for dairy farmers to help enhance the sustainability of their farm business.
