Effluent Management
Most dairy farmers are proactive about managing their farm dairy shed effluent because they know that if poorly treated effluent enters waterways, it can affect the quality of the water.
The ineffective management of farm dairy effluent can also pollute groundwater – either during storage or land application. While there are a number of systems currently available for effluent treatment, this section provides best management practices for the main systems currently operating in each region.
Experience tells us that proactively managing your effluent can not only help you manage the impact of your farming operation on the environment, but it has the potential to save you money and add real value to you business.
