Taking Leadership

The dairy industry has been engaging with the Government and the wider pastoral industry on the development of central government policy initiatives. We have been actively involved in the primary sector reference group on the Sustainable Water Programme of Action, and in engaging with Government on climate change.

We have formed a partnership with the New Zealand Farm Environment Awards Trust, Agriculture ITO and Dairy Industry Awards Trust to build capacity within the industry to innovate and take leadership on environmental issues.

Dairy industry policy analysts and researchers have established a Science Forum with a view to improving the industry’s access to technical advice, and researchers’ ability to provide information that can be more readily applied to policy development.
