Key accomplishments
- Industry: In the role of programme leader of the dairy systems portfolio from 1995-2005, commissioned research on several high profile programmes such as the Holstein-Friesian Strain Comparison, the Greenfield automatic farming site, once-a-day milking and DairyNZ Whole Farm Model. Initiated New Zealand Dairy Board’s preliminary investigation of organic milk production. Member of the Dairying and the Environment Committee from 1995-2002. Extensive technology transfer on summer milk production, feed production, mitigation of environmental effects and once-a-day milking.
- Science: Research leader of programmes on resource efficient dairy production, once daily milk production, methane mitigation, summer milk production.
- Awards: The Distinguished Service Award for the New Zealand Dairy Industry, 2007.
