Key accomplishments
- Industry: Identified strong candidate gene for ‘once a day milking’ response in conjunction with LIC. Further validation and assessment of this gene as a breeding marker of OAD performance in a large commercial herd is planned.
- Science: Global molecular pathway analysis in mammary glands of cows milked once a day (manuscript in preparation). Identification of beta-2-adrenergic receptor variant as candidate gene for unfavourable beta-blocker drug response in human heart failure.
- Awards: Lotteries Health Research PhD Scholarship, 2002. University of Otago Postgraduate Award, 2001. Corleone Cup Achievement Award, Bryant Hall, University of Waikato 1997. Martha Gold Scholarship for placing within top five bursary scores in Waihi College, 1996.
