Getting Started:

Q. What will happen when I plug in the Career Pathways USB?

A. Wait a few moments for the application to load. You will then see the screen on the right.

The top option is the DairyNZ Career Pathways tool, it’s already selected. Click OK.

Once it opens you might want to maximise the screen, by clicking on this button (shown below):

Q What do I do if this screen doesn’t appear?

A. You can still use the Career Pathways tool by accessing the USB flash drive and double clicking the file named “click me”.

Frequently Asked Questions - General:

Q. What will this install on my computer?

A. Career Pathways runs on the USB provided so it won’t install on your computer. This means it will not affect the performance of your computer in any way. It will save a small number of critical files (e.g. your CV or career plan) in case you lose your USB.

Q. I get an error message when trying to create and save my CV

A. If you didn’t allow the increase in temporary local memory the CV builder may not work effectively.

Q. I have lost my USB. how can I access my information?

A. The Career Pathways tool keeps all critical files on your computer, so that it can find  them again should you lose your USB. Simply order a new USB, plug it in and the data will be there.

Q. I have been using a PC I no longer have access to (e.g. a friends or public  computer). What will happen to the files I have saved?

A. Your critical files are temporarily saved to the computer you used. You must  access this computer in order to access your files. If you use another computer then you will need to start again.

Q. My computer crashed in the middle of the assessments, will it remember where I  got up to?

A. All completed assessments will be saved, any assessments that are not fully completed will have been lost. The same principle applies to the CV builder and plan my career section, if you have fully completed a section, it will have been saved.

Problems related to minimum requirements:

  • Career Pathways is slow
1GB memory (RAM) required
  • No sound
Headphones or speakers required, check volume is turned up
  • Font appears small

Q. The buttons appear behind the taskbar at the bottom of my screen - how do I move it so I can click on them?

A. It is likely that your taskbar is higher than the default setting. Change the height of your taskbar or hide it temporarily (see Windows help).

Q. I’ve tried all the options and it still doesn’t work, could the USB be faulty?

A. If this is the case phone 0800 4 DairyNZ (0800 4 324 7969) to order a new one.
