Assess proposed environmental targets for dairy farmers and participate in the regulatory process to ensure regulation is informed, scientifically-based and appropriate to the circumstances.

Establish benchmarks and targets for increasing resource use efficiency and guiding good practice.

Promote the use of existing mitigation technologies that work well and improve those that are not as effective as they could be. Develop new tools, knowledge and systems to ensure progress in the longer term.

Increase the number of dairy farmers promoting environmental sustainability and work to achieve on-farm commitments.

Improve the quality and quantity of information passed on to dairy farmers about environmental management by putting more emphasis on "training the trainers".

Improve communication to farmers about environmental issues and widen communications to involve those outside the farming community.
