Policy and Advocacy

As dairy farmers are aware, the laws and regulations made by New Zealand's Government and by the 17 regional councils around the country can have a major impact on the success of dairy farming operations.

That is why DairyNZ have a Policy and Advocacy team - to protect and enhance farmers' interests with central and regional government.

DairyNZ's Policy and Advocacy team is focussed on working to deliver distinct value to all farmers through ensuring legislative, policy, investment and regulatory outcomes which protect and enhance the profitability, sustainability and competitiveness of dairy farming in New Zealand.

Our mission is to be the ears, eyes and voice for dairy farmers in all policy making and other governmental processes at an international, national and regional level that impact on dairy farming in New Zealand.

The team works closely with Federated Farmers, the Dairy Companies Association of New Zealand, Fonterra and other primary sector organisations to ensure efficient coordination of effort and that farmers receive the best results possible from their investment in policy work.

DairyNZ focuses on its particular strengths including how our scientific, technical, investment and extension expertise can contribute to the policy making process.
