Farmfacts: Using phosphorus
fertiliser (7-7)

Last updated: September 2006

Summary: Use of phosphorus (P) fertilisers result in an increase in pasture growth.

  • Clover growth improves as P levels in the soil increase
  • Ryegrass growth also improves with increasing P levels in soil - largely because clovers are healthier and are putting more nitrogen (N) into the system.

However, P fertiliser is not a magic pill. This Farmfact will help you decide on how to best use P fertiliser on your farm.
