Last updated: December 2010

Summary:

This Farmfact is number three in a series on summer management and covers management when it is dry to meet the objectives of dry summer management i.e. implementing the summer management plan (Farmfact 1-30). The objectives of dry summer management are:

  1. To protect next season's production and reproduction by getting all cows to body condition score (BCS) 5.0 by calving
  2. To maximise profitable milksolids production for the rest of the current season.

Once in a dry summer the options are to reduce feed demand or increase feed supply.
