General Manager, Policy

Simon is DairyNZ's General Manager for Policy and Advocacy, based in DairyNZ's Wellington Office. He leads a team which protects and enhances the interests of New Zealand's dairy farmers by working with regional and central government to across a range of policy, legislative, regulatory and investment issues.
Simon is also seconded on a part-time basis to be the Executive Director of the Dairy Companies Association of New Zealand (DCANZ), the organisation that represents the collective policy interests of New Zealand dairy companies.
Prior to joining DairyNZ, Simon spent 5 years at Fonterra Cooperative Group including working as Strategy Manager based in Auckland and as Fonterra's North America Vice President for Government Relations and Trade based in Washington DC. He was responsible for managing Fonterra's government relations programme, trade and regulatory policy issues with the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Prior to joining the dairy industry, Simon spent 12 years working for the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, including postings to Washington DC and Tehran and several years as advisor on international trade issues to the New Zealand Trade and Agriculture Minister.
