Increasing capability and competency in Large Farm Businesses

Current aims are:

  • Work with multiple farm owners, their farm supervisors, managers and advisors to develop resilient farm businesses that remain profitable, sustainable and competitive (manage risk) in an increasingly uncertain business environment

  • Develop a dairy industry pool of knowledge around good practices for large farm businesses that can be applied to current large farm businesses and those expanding into large businesses. This pool of knowledge also aims to meet the needs of farming large herds

  • Create a co-operative and sustainable approach to improving large farm business governance and management systems through fostering capability development in owners, supervisors, managers and advisors

  • Determine effective ways of engaging with all large dairy farming businesses and improving their knowledge of and access of DairyNZ and wider industry resources. This may enable them to enhance their business aspirations as they develop over time.
