Building capability for a sustainable future – whole farm assessment and plansBuilding capability for a sustainable future – whole farm assessment and plans. To achieve this, a step-change in the way knowledge and technology is delivered to farm practitioners is essential. Transformation of the professionalism of the pre-farm gate sector of the dairy industry will be undertaken by developing new technologies which will improve both productivity and potentially reduce the environmental footprint, but also by building enablement platforms that will ensure that adoption of current and emerging practices and technologies happens over the next five years and beyond. In order to achieve this we will develop a practical tools-based assessment and planning process which includes training for practitioners and service providers, accreditation and new professional networks to ensure farmers are provided with best management advice and the outcomes are trusted by other stakeholders such as councils. This includes incorporation of a complete set of components for managing the “whole farm system” |
