Investment: EBL control scheme

NZ Dairy EBL Control Scheme

The NZ Dairy Industry EBL Control Scheme was launched in 1997 as the first industry-driven disease control program, and has successfully eliminated EBL from the national dairy herd.

By 2008/09 all dairy herds tested negative for EBL and no cases of EBL infection have been detected since. The program has since been focussed on ensuring that the New Zealand dairy industry remains free of EBL.
With no evidence of new incursions over 3 seasons, the programme’s future needs to be reassessed to determine the appropriate level of monitoring.
