Acquisition of new germplasm for the dairy industryThis project aims to provide new plant germplasm to advance future dairy farming. New germplasm is required to underpin future production systems and to coordinate industry action to ensure access to new pasture and forage crop germplasm. This project also provides long-term capability development through a PhD project in the area of germplasm development. |
Expected outcomes of this project
Benefit
Seed increases of new grassland plants for dairying will improve production and product quality via new pasture varieties and endophytes
New species and new germplasm will be imported to improve the long-term potential of the feed-base.
A Ph.D project in the area of germplasm development will provide assurance of future capability in managing and developing new plant germplasm.
