Telford Dairy Demo Farm

Provide relevant information to the Otago dairy community on a range of important areas of dairying, particularly around wintering systems. The key research projects will look at the transition of stock on and off Brassica based diets, supplement use and the effects of winter grazing on soil characteristics.
 

 

 

Expected outcomes of this project

Benefit

Improve training and education of staff, provide an awareness of the working environment to increase staff satisfaction.
Increased pasture production and improved decision making regarding pasture renewal selection and methods.
Improved sustainability of effluent management and economics of effluent nutrient use and nutrient positioning.
Dairy community will have more understanding of the effects of different wintering practices on cow production, soil structure and GHG gas emissions.
