Dairy Push

Identify and implement farm management options within the group of participating farmers that will improve N use efficiency and reduce N leaching, improve farm business performance and decrease business risk.  This project will have spin-off benefits in building the capability of farmers to use strategic and tactical planning tools to create more resilient dairy farming businesses and building community confidence in the dairy industry.
 

 

 

Expected outcomes of this project

Benefit
Provides a framework/methodology for creating a practical framework to integrate financial, physical, social and environmental planning at a farm level.
Providing leadership in the South Waikato area on how to address the issues of reducing the environmental footprint whilst ensuring farm profitability is maintained.
Identification and demonstration of mitigation options best suited to a range of farm situations.
Wider understanding in the South Waikato community of the pro-active approach being taken by the dairy industry to reduce the environmental footprint.
