Validation of Fertility Focus reportsFertility Focus reports were created in Australia, and have been adapted for New Zealand conditions. This project aims to validate the accuracy of the algorithms against actual fertility parameters, such as 6-week in-calf rate and empty rate, so that New Zealand dairy farmers can have assurance of the robustness of Fertility Focus reports for their management decisions. The outcome is to have a validated, stakeholder and peer reviewed, Fertility Focus algorithm available for New Zealand providers. The validated algorithm will be used, during 2012-13, to aggregate herd data to generate fertility benchmarks for 6-week in-calf rate, empty rate and length of mating. These benchmarks will be published annually in Dairy Statistics. |
