Reason for getting involved in Dairy Connect
I don’t like the thought of people struggling over a problem – sometimes talking it through with someone else who understands the industry can help come up with a solution. I can use my experience to offer advice but often the person already knows the answer and I enjoy helping them work it out.
Areas of success in your business that you would be happy to talk through with others
In 2015 our business won the Dairy Business of the Year award:
- Supreme Winner
- Otago Winner
- Finalist with the lowest Environmental Impact
Our business employs four full-time and three part-time staff. We have a strong emphasis on governance, health and safety, and human resources.
Other farm / business information, points of difference or interest
I have experienced moving in a new area, changing career, changing lifestyle and know the challenges each one of these things bring.
I believe with good structure in our business, we can free up time to do more enjoyable things.
I understand that it is not always easy being in the dairy industry – we don’t always feel like we are “living the dream”.
