Leo is the DairyNZ regional leader for Northland
Originating from Argentina, Leo is a qualified veterinarian with a major in dairy production.
He migrated to New Zealand in 2002 and started working on a dairy farm in Southland with the intention of increasing his knowledge and experience in pasture management. After discovering opportunities in dairy, he decided to build a career through contract milking and sharemilking.
After 16 years in business, Leo was drawn by growing interests in the wider industry and a need for constant learning, and took the opportunity to work for DairyNZ. This also enabled him to fulfil his passion for helping to make positive changes for those around him.
Looking after Western Southland farmers is a great challenge. Leo thrives on the connections and relationships with them.
"I just love hanging out with farmers, learning from them and being able to share some knowledge or experience. This position gives me the ability to be a community leader by giving tools that actually help people grow and develop."
Passionate about whole farm systems and extension, he hopes to continuously provide support through the challenges ahead.
