Why Attend?

This course will cover:

  • Becoming familiar with farming terminology related to pasture and feeding.
  • Recognising common pasture species and their growth stages.
  • Understanding the key principles of optimizing pasture growth and utilization across the seasons.
  • Accurately estimating, measuring and recording average pasture covers to build a feed wedge.
  • Practicing putting up secure electric fences, showing awareness of cow requirements.
  • Understanding feed management to avoid animal health risks.

This free course is suitable for entry level dairy farmers, farm assistants and herd managers. The course includes four in-person workshops held between milkings on 6 October, 20 October, 3 November and 17 November.
