3-5 December 2025

Hosted by DairyNZ at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, Ōtautahi Christchurch.

Precision dairy farming involves the use of technologies and data to either automate tasks on-farm or use data (animal, feedbase, nutrients, environment, people) to improve decision-making for enhanced accuracy, timeliness, and productivity.

This three-day conference brings together dairy farmers, rural professionals, commercial companies and researchers from New Zealand and overseas. It includes commercial farm visits, a dairy farmer panel discussion, and two full days of plenary and concurrent sessions, with a session stream on both days aimed specifically at dairy farmers interested in practical and applied science that can be used on farm.

Following successful editions in the Netherlands, the United States and Austria, this is the first time the International Precision Dairy Farming Conference will be held in the Southern Hemisphere.

Hosted by DairyNZ

Hosting the International Precision Dairy Farming Conference in New Zealand is a great opportunity for DairyNZ to continue adding value for New Zealand dairy farmers, the dairy sector and New Zealand more broadly by increasing our understanding of the rapidly changing technology landscape, and engaging with leading researchers, farmers and rural professionals.

The event is a unique chance to explore emerging technologies that can address on-farm and sector challenges and connect farmer needs with tech development. It is also an opportunity to see what other countries are doing—gaining insight into research, development, integration, best-practice use, and impact on-farm.

A great opportunity for farmers

The conference sits at the crossroads of science and farming practice, bringing together scientists who are interested in applied precision dairy farming technology, technology manufacturers who will be the key drivers in product and service development, and dairy farmers, veterinarians and advisors who are the key users in the latest scientific developments.

It has a strong emphasis on science, adoption, implementation, and real-world applications.

The topics covered by the conference are front of mind for farmers and the sector, and a lot of work is being done in precision dairy farming, both in New Zealand and globally.

It is a great opportunity for farmers to increase their understanding of the rapidly changing technology landscape, and engage with leading researchers, other farmers and rural professionals from New Zealand and overseas.
