Elstow/Springdale Discussion Group October

The October group will focus on minimising post peak milk production decline and management decisions to maintain pasture quality.

 Discussion will revolve around:

  • Strategies to maintain pasture quality
  • The composition of grass needed to maintain high levels of milk production-dry matter content;
    • crude protein
    • soluble sugars
    • metabolize energy
    • digestibility
  • Milk Urea levels
  • Topping before or after grazing
  • Use of supplements or nitrogen to mitigate post peak production decline
