It's already time for the last discussion group of the year!
Our hosts are sharemilkers Michael and Ruth Prankerd who operate two 50/50 jobs with the focus of the day being on their x815 cow farm in Otapiri. The farm is stocked at 3.4 cows/ha and high input, feeding 1.5t/cow/year. They are in the process of building a x400 cow feedpad to try mitigate feeding on their heavy soils. Topics of the day will include:
- Managing a high input, highly stocked farm in Southland and the best ways to utilise their new feedpad
- Increasing robust financial discussions at group and calculating your breakeven milkprice. Please be aware of your numbers for the day including: operating expenses, farm working expenses, interest & rent, tax, drawings, total cash expenses, net livestock and other dairy cash income (not required to share with group) so you can work out your BEMP on the day.
Protect our industry - please arrive with clean boots to reduce the risk of spreading a disease, pest or weed.
