The AGM on Thursday October 27 will review the year that was and present DairyNZ’s financial results and investment priorities for the coming year.
DairyNZ chair Michael Spaans says the 2015/16 season’s challenges have shown that farmers need to ensure their farm businesses are set up to cope with greater price volatility cycles – now and in future.
“It's encouraging to see, yet again, farmers can and do adapt, and as an industry we do remain competitive internationally. We are long-time players of the global industry, with a well-established dairy infrastructure,” says Michael in the recent Annual Report.
“We must take the opportunity as an industry to stay internationally competitive and be more productive and profitable, so when we get out the other side, we will be in better shape.”
Michael says DairyNZ has a responsibility to deliver value for farmers.
“DairyNZ, like you, has tightened its belt while working hard to deliver more value than ever for farmers,” says Michael. “Lower milk prices have meant reduced milk volumes, and therefore, reduced levy income into DairyNZ. But in spite of lower income, the DairyNZ board and management have been committed to ensuring we still achieve our long-term strategic plans, while continuing to deliver immediate support for our farmers.
Michael encourages all levy-paying farmers who receive this year’s AGM voting pack to review DairyNZ’s summary report and to cast their votes on the ratification of director Helen Anderson for another three-year term and on the directors’ remuneration.
He also encourages farmers, if possible, to attend the AGM
Farmers attending the AGM will hear about DairyNZ’s investment priorities for the 2016/17 dairy season and where
the levy is being used to help farmers through the current
low milk price.
AGM voting packs in the mail
AGM voting packs were sent out to all levy payers on September 27.
All farmers paying a levy on milksolids to DairyNZ should receive an AGM voting pack, which includes a voting form for the directors’ remuneration and director ratification. Voting closes 12 noon Wednesday, October 26, with results announced at the DairyNZ AGM.
If you are a levy payer and did not receive a pack, please contact the returning officer Warwick Lampp at firstname.lastname@example.org or ph 0800 666 044.
