While running the models for the May AE run we encountered some problems when processing the longevity data from overseas. Unfortunately although these issues are now sorted, we were not able to apply a fix in time to use the latest overseas information for longevity for the May AE run. Instead, we used the overseas longevity file from December 2013 for this run.
We intend to do a special re-run of longevity in the June AE run, so that the most up-to-date information for longevity is available for those bulls relying on records from overseas.
Overseas bulls are likely to be the only bulls impacted by this. NZ bulls have high NZ reliabilities and require minimal overseas information to go into their proofs. Bulls that are most likely to have their longevity breeding values affected by this are overseas bulls with few NZ daughters.
For those overseas bulls with longevity breeding values affected, there might also be a slight impact upon the residual survival breeding values. This is because the longevity breeding value is included in the calculation for the residual survival breeding value.
All other breeding values were updated successfully.
We sincerely apologize for any impact this might have on you.
