The forum is held across two days, with sessions on Wednesday, July 7, and Thursday, July 8. These sessions will be live linked to the Irish venue, to enable international conversation and presentations.
Farmers are able to attend the event in person at Claudelands Event Centre, Hamilton, or farmers nationwide can tune in online to the discussion.
Pasture Summit chairman Colin Armer says the forum’s theme ‘Pasture Fed Dairy & Water Quality – is pasture still the way forward?’ promises to be exciting, with interesting discussions for farmers.
“New Zealand’s dairy sector is currently facing a lot of changes, which affect our on-farm operations. As a nation known for our pasture-based products, the forum really focuses on if this is the best way forward, from both an Irish and New Zealand perspective,” Mr Armer says.
“We are lucky to have a dynamic group of international and local speakers lined up, sharing new science, while attendees are encouraged to partake in debates and discussions across the sessions,” Mr Armer says.
“Discussion will emphasise current consumer preferences and our environmental footprint, while focusing on ensuring we continue to strengthen our farm businesses in this changing farming environment.”
Speakers include top scientists, sector experts, exporters and farmers from both countries, as well as a speaker from global food company, Nestlé. In-depth insights into global dairy trends and customer preferences will be offered, while current thinking on the future of pasture fed dairy will be challenged.
The forum is designed to share the latest knowledge and thinking from leading experts, scientists, and businesspeople to help farmers secure profitable and sustainable businesses from pastoral farming.
It is also designed to encourage attendees to ask the hard questions during discussion time so the sector is looking forward and focused on innovation and finding solutions.
Pasture Summit is organised and run by a group of progressive and committed farmers and dairy sector experts from across New Zealand and Ireland and supported by industry-good body DairyNZ.
Pasture Summit has wide support across the primary sector with the following Gold sponsors: ANZ, Ballance Agri-Nutrients, DairyNZ, Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited, Livestock Improvement Corporation, Rabobank, Ravensdown.
Registration to attend the event in person or virtually will also give access to recorded footage of the event.
