School: Gore High School
Tertiary: Lincoln University, Year 3, 2021
Degree: Bachelor of Agricultural Science
In my final year of high school, I knew I wanted to complete tertiary study. But was unsure what to study so I took a gap year to work and travel.
I spent eight months working fulltime on a dairy farm where I gained valuable experience and skills which fostered a strong passion for the dairy sector.
Not only did my time on the dairy farm confirm I would study an agricultural science degree but helped me to understand the role the dairy sector plays in New Zealand and to see for myself possible dairy sector career opportunities.
The Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences at Lincoln University appealed because of the practical and relevant course work and scientific approach to agriculture.
Now, two years into my degree, I know I will have a progressive on-farm dairy career and I look forward to promoting the opportunities dairying offers, especially to young women.
