From a very young age I developed a passion for the primary sector and all it has to offer. I love the people and everything that the industry encompasses, be it farming, rural professionals or scientific research and development. For me, there has never been a second thought for a career pathway than in the primary industries (in particular dairy), working alongside people and helping to make a positive difference.
Through studying a Bachelor of Agricultural Science at Lincoln University, I believe that I will provide myself with the knowledge to achieve my goals. In my final year of study, I am aiming to be accepted to complete my Honours. I strive to help build a better future for farmers and support them to continue to run not only profitable, but sustainable businesses. My long-term goal is to be an important figure in the industry, helping to improve farming systems and animal genetics. The primary sector has and always will be the backbone of our country and I believe as we strive to feed our growing population, there has never been a better time to enter the industry.
The DairyNZ scholarship programme has been the most beneficial aspect of my university life so far. I am very fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful group of students and supported both academically and personally by my mentors and coordinator. The programme provides networking opportunities with industry professionals which has helped me to stay focused on my goals and continue to strive to do my best.
