School: Te Awamutu College
Tertiary: Massey University, 2014-2016
Degree: Bachelor of Science, Master of Science
Current employment: Research Associate at DairyNZ
Job description: My role as a Research Associate with DairyNZ ranges from technician work helping with sampling for various trials, the organising and overseeing of trials, and the data analysis and presentation of results. The huge variety in the job is exciting as it means there is always something different and new to learn, and it includes both practical and desk work.
Comments on the scholarships: The DairyNZ scholarship was not only beneficial for financial reasons, but more importantly for the academic support, guidance, network building and opportunities. Through the DairyNZ scholarship I was able to get a summer internship which led into completing my Masters with DairyNZ, and then led onto my current role. It wouldn’t have been possible without the help from both scholarships.
Future plans: I will continue to work in the research and development sector in the dairy sector, and find opportunities to follow my passion, develop my knowledge, help support farmers and optimise resilience throughout the sector.
Scholarship recipient: Undergraduate 3 years, and postgraduate scholarship, 18 months.
