Thank you for your heartfelt entries into the Hidden Gem competition. We received just over 400 entries and have identified a Hidden Gem.
Congratulations Wanganui dairy farmer Chris Davison, a true hidden gem. DairyNZ found Chris met strict criteria to be deserving of the special diamond. Chris says, "This act of generosity is a good reminder that, by and large, most Kiwis appreciate and value what we farmers do. I’m sure many other farmers would feel the same way."
Chris hosts school students, is passionate about the environment and managing land sustainably; encourages those who visit his farm to donate to Hospice – as he and his family do - and always finds the time to help others.

Just like diamonds, we know farmers are forever, and so do generous urban couple Mark and Pamela, who are giving away a rare green 2-carat diamond ring.
“This is our way of celebrating the hard work dairy farmers do every day – often without thanks,” say London-trained jeweller Mark Beckett and his wife Pamela.
“We reckon this rare green diamond is the perfect way to celebrate our dairy farmers who are committed to caring for our land and environment, and we believe, just like diamonds, they are here forever.”
Entry into this competition was simply to nominate a dairy farmer, and tell us a story about why you think he or she is a hidden gem. How are they special or unique to you, their community, and/or the dairy sector? If nominating yourself, why do you think you deserve the green diamond ring?
