The principles of mating management for once-a-day (OAD) cows are the same as for twice-a-day (TAD) cows. However the reduced frequency of OAD cows being milked means attention to detail during the mating period is critical.
Heat detection aids i.e. tail paint and KMARS, will assist in identifying cycling cows as oestrus activity may occur between milkings. One advantage with OAD cows is that they appear to have stronger heats so rubbing is very obvious.
