The Healthy Hoof programme focused on the prevention of lameness with information and training on management and treatment. The programme was a simple, stepwise approach to managing lameness on dairy farms caused by physical factors. This practical and interactive workshop was designed to give participants the skills to deliver the Healthy Hoof programme to help their farming clients prevent and reduce lameness.

Lameness training

Lameness is a significant source of pain and discomfort in cattle, negatively affecting production and reproduction. Despite being a common health issue in dairy and beef cattle, there is much to learn about how to investigate, how to prevent and how best to treat lameness on-farm.
