The Pasture Growth Forecaster has been further developed commercially and is now Pasture Vibe. The new name reflects the purpose of the tool in helping farmers get in sync with their pastures.

From business planning to milking performance, we have a range of useful tools to support farmers, all backed by science and research.

Good advice and support can make all the difference, this section covers training resources, support groups, crisis management, and opportunities for scholarships and internships.

Good irrigation helps pasture grow better, providing more feed for animals. Whatever the chosen system, it should maximise the amount of pasture grown while using as little water as possible.

Our guests on this episode are Morrinsville farmer Johan van Ras, planting professional Antony Snodgrass, and DairyNZ’s Aslan Wright-Stow, Senior Manager – Environment.

Holly Hay (Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Turumakina) kick-started her dairying career through DairyNZ by taking up a Māori summer internship as an undergraduate, before becoming a casual research technician.

Janet Montgomery talks about the next phase of FVI research. Find out what they aim to find, plans for the FVI tool, and the trial that’s gathering more evidence about ryegrass cultivar performance.
