Jared Stockman
Regional Manager - Lower South Island
Jared is driven by seeing people grow — whether it’s a farmer gaining confidence in a new system, or one of his team members walking forward into a challenge.
“It’s that combination of expertise and empathy that makes a real difference,” says Jared, who leads a team of area managers working directly with dairy farmers across the Lower South Island.
“My role’s about enabling and supporting our team to deliver practical, timely, and regionally relevant advice and services to farmers. I connect our people, our farmers, and the wider sector and make sure DairyNZ’s support is grounded in local realities and farmer needs.”
Jared says dairy farmers are at the heart of New Zealand’s rural communities and economy. “Dairying’s challenges are complex, so providing support isn’t just about technical advice; it’s about being a trusted partner who understands their context and helps them navigate change.”
Collaboration is also a cornerstone of how Jared and his people operate.
“We regularly engage with rural professionals and sector organisations and groups, to align efforts and share insights, networking, building trust and creating a shared purpose so together we can deliver better outcomes for farmers,” says Jared.
Born and bred off a small Taranaki dairy farm, Jared and wife Jo have three daughters (Hannah, Molly and Zoe. A keen fisher and tractor enthusiast, Jared also loves spending time with family and friends, is an active member of St John Ambulance, and loves helping people who aren’t having a great day.
“The regional teams are there for dairy farmers when things are going well, and especially when they’re not,” says Jared, who also loves the diversity of his role.
“No two days are the same, and every conversation has the potential to make a difference. Being part of a team that genuinely cares about dairy farmers and rural communities keeps me motivated and proud of the work we do.”
