Role

Manager

Tiffany is a technical team leader at Lye Farm, one of DairyNZ’s Waikato-based research farms, where she supports the scientists conducting research projects, leads a team of technicians, and manages on-farm capital expenditure projects.

“I love managing my team. It's very vibrant and dynamic, and everyone's got a great attitude. I'm always happy to help if people need a hand because I want the whole team to succeed.

“Running big investments is really satisfying, especially when you see the finished result and the impact they have,” says Tiffany. “Recent projects I have been in charge of have included the installation of an irrigation system on Lye Farm and an upgrade of some of our automated animal intake infrastructure.”

Tiffany also brings her skill in data analysis and eye for detail to overseeing AnimalBase, the production database where DairyNZ collects all its research animal data, which she was integral to designing, building and testing. This ensures accurate and credible data underpinning our research and science.

Tiffany always knew she wanted to work with animals, but it was not until after she graduated from Massey University with her Bachelor of Applied Science that she was introduced to dairy farming, became passionate about cows and the industry, and went dairy farming. “I applied for a research technician job at Lye Farm in 2011,” says Tiffany. “I've been here ever since, and I still find the job interesting. The opportunities to learn are great!”
