Workplace 360
Workplace 360 is a self-assessment tool, designed to help you be the proud owner of a great workplace.
Workplace 360 helps you create a thriving work environment by assessing your current practices, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and providing steps for improvement. It supports continuous development to encourage you to meet best practice and legal requirements in employment, health and safety.
Workplace 360 has been redesigned for the 2025/26 season. The new version is an improved experience. It is shorter, easier, and more personalised.
The new assessment has two sections, and it takes about 25-30 minutes to complete. The two sections are:
Section 1: Good practice, yes or no questions.
Section 2: A deep dive into selected topics if you have a team and health and safety if you don’t. An opportunity to discover more, reflect on learnings, and commit to the change you wish to see on your farm.
We recommend you complete all sections at one time, the assessment cannot be saved to return to later. You can complete the survey as many times as you like.
We will ask you for a few farm and personal details to personalise the survey and email you the results. Only you will get a copy of your results, they won't be shared with anyone without your permission.
A few minutes after completing Workplace 360, you'll receive an email from DairyNZ with the subject title 'Your Workplace 360 results' containing a report download link.
The PDF report contains:
If you have any problems retrieving your report after completing the assessment, please give us a call on 0800 4 DairyNZ or email info@dairynz.co.nz.
I can’t find my Workplace 360 report, what should I do?
Search for an email received from DairyNZ Ltd with the subject title ‘Your Workplace 360 report’; the report can be downloaded from this email.
What is expected of me as a Fonterra supplier filling this out for the Co-operative difference?
Fonterra suppliers completing this assessment for the Co-operative Difference must complete both sections. There is the opportunity at the end to share the completion status of your assessment directly with Fonterra. No actual results are shared, just the completion status. If you prefer, you can share your report during your assessment.
We strongly recommend you complete Workplace 360 at least one week prior to your Co-operative Difference audit.
For additional information on Fonterra’s Co-operative Difference, visit their webpage below.
How do I let Fonterra know I have completed Workplace 360?
At the end of Workplace 360, if you selected that you supply to Fonterra, you are asked if you want to share that you completed the tool with Fonterra. If the answer is ‘yes’ then DairyNZ passes onto Fonterra that Workplace 360 was completed, as well as your name, email address and supply number. No other information is passed on.
Who is the best person to complete Workplace 360?
It’s best if the person employing and managing the staff completes Workplace360 (i.e. the Farm Owner, Sharemilker or Contract Milker as relevant).
What happens if I don’t have staff?
Farm businesses who do not employ staff are still required to manage health and safety on farm. Near the beginning of Workplace 360 you are asked if you have staff or not. If you answer ‘no’ then you automatically receive a shorter version of Workplace 360 which only covers health and safety.
What if I have multiple farms?
If you have more than one farm, it is recommended (but not required) that you complete a Workplace 360 assessment for each farm to maximise learnings. Especially if farms are being run by contract or sharemilkers as they have responsibility for the people employed, therefore they are best placed to complete Workplace 360.
Is any pre-work required? What evidence is required?
Generally, no. If you are the business owner and completing Workplace 360 you should know the answers. We encourage you to complete the assessment responsibly and honestly so you get the most from it. It is probable that in the future customers / consumers will want more evidence of the areas Workplace 360 covers.
What is expected to happen next year with Workplace 360?
The intention is to change the questions and examples used within Workplace 360 to encourage continual learning. Workplace 360 will tend to focus on topics which represent the biggest risks and opportunities for farmers alongside growing trends and hot topics.
