What this Policy covers

This Event Registration Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes the policies and procedures of DairyNZ on the collection, use, and disclosure of the information you provide to us when you register or attend one of our events. It also describes the choices available to you regarding our use of your information and how you can access and update it.

What information is collected

When you register for an event hosted by DairyNZ or an organisation associated with us, we may ask you to provide information including, but not limited to, your name, address, email address, phone number, supplier number and any organisational affiliation.

Why we collect this information

We collect your information for organisational purposes relating to the event you will be attending. We also may use your contact information to communicate with you about DairyNZ news and events.

What third parties, if any, is the data shared with

If we are presenting the event with an event partner or the event is sponsored, the partner or sponsor will receive an event attendee list including attendee names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, supplier numbers and any organisational affiliation.

Your information may also be provided to third party contractors to perform services for us which involves the contractor handling personal information we hold. In these situations, we prohibit the third-party contractor from using personal information about you except for the specific purpose for which we supply it.

At times your information may be shared with third parties, such as government agencies, industry bodies, banks or farm service providers, in order to ensure that these parties are utilising accurate information when setting policies or developing services that will have an impact on the dairy farming industry.

We will not disclose personal information to any other external parties unless legally required to do so.

How we secure your information

DairyNZ uses industry-standard methods to maintain the security of the information you provide us. DairyNZ takes all reasonable steps to prevent loss, misuse, or disclosure of personal information.  All personal information is stored on secure servers in a digital format. DairyNZ employees and contractors are obliged to respect the confidentiality of any personal and/or sensitive information held.

We will ensure that your information is collected, retained, and disclosed in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.

How you can opt-out

The opportunity to opt out of any further communication from us, our event partners or any sponsors is available during the registration process. Additionally, any recipient of an automatically generated email or text message from DairyNZ may unsubscribe from future messages via a link at the bottom of each message.

Access to personal information and opportunity to update information

For questions about this Policy, to update your privacy options after you have registered or attended an event, or to update or correct mistakes in the information you provided us, please contact our Privacy Officer, who can be reached via email info@dairynz.co.nz or phone 0800 4 324 7969.

We will, on request, provide you with access to all information we hold about you unless there is an exception which applies under the Privacy Act 2020. We may recover from you our reasonable costs of supplying you with access to this information.
